As part of Holy Week which is schedule for Sunday, April 14 to Saturday, April 20, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, located at the corner of 10th St. and D Avenue will be offering a variety of events including Stations of the Cross.
The Stations of the Cross are representations of the path Jesus bore on his way to the crucifixion. They involve Jesus enduring suffering, insults, moments of support, and relay the intense sacrifice that Christians believe Jesus undertook for human salvation.
On Maundy Thursday, April 18 the liturgy of the last supper; foot washing and the stripping of the altar will take place at 5 p.m. At this event everyone will sit at the table of Jesus’ Last Supper with his friends. At the conclusion of the service everyone will move to the garden. The stripping of the altar recalls the stripping and preparation of Christ’s body for burial.
On Friday, April 19 a Good Friday service will be provided by the Douglas Ministries Association and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, at the service the death of Jesus will be remembered.
A special service will be held on Easter Sunday, April 21 at 12:30 p.m. The public is invited to come celebrate God’s victory over sin and death.
All services will be bilingual.
