Throughout the summer, the Douglas Public Library has been hosting a series of events for the youth called “A Universe of Stories”.

The summer reading program began June 3 and runs through July 20. It is free to anyone between the ages of 6 to 17 wanting to participate.

Last week the DPL had a tie-dye party, an ice cream story time event and had a visit from Park Ranger Zach Palma before making their own galaxy jars.

Each week special events, crafts, movies, parties and more are held Monday through Friday throughout the day. A fun with Science and Math event for preschoolers is scheduled for this Friday, July 5 at 11 a.m. It will be held again on Friday, July 12 at the same time.

An animal show with Wildman Phil is scheduled for Wednesday, July 17 at 2 p.m. at the library.

Register at the circulation desk to participate in fun activities and win prizes.

Call 417-7359 or 417-7352 for more information on what’s happening at the library or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/douglaspubliclibrary/.

The library will be closed Thursday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. It will reopen Friday, July 5 at 10 a.m.
