Detectives from the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department are continuing their investigation into a domestic violence shooting that left a man dead and sent his live-in girlfriend to the hospital.
The incident took place shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday at the couple’s residence on San Luis Obispo Drive just off of Leslie Canyon Road north of Douglas.
Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the CCSO, has confirmed for the Douglas Dispatch that a 57-year-old man, whose last known address was in Bisbee, is dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his 65-year-old live in girlfriend, who has a Douglas address, is in a Tucson hospital recovering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The woman was airlifted from the scene by Lifeline.
The identities of the two people involved is not being released at this time. Capas has confirmed this incident is domestic violence related.
