Ray Borane was elected to a second consecutive term as president of the Douglas School Board at an organizational meeting that was held Tuesday, Jan. 7 in the DUSD board room.
“I want to thank you for the confidence,” Borane told his fellow board members after being unanimously approved. “I want us to always keep in mind that we are stewards of the community taxpayers and that we monitor and do the best we can with taxpayer money.
“I want us to continue doing what we’re doing. We have a good administration that we’re working with. I’m always quick to compliment this board. I think you, the public and everyone else knows we work very well together in doing what’s in the best interest of the district especially when it comes to the children in our schools.”
The board also agreed, at this meeting, to change the start times of the meetings this year from 5:30 to 5 p.m. beginning with Jan. 14 meeting.
All regular monthly meetings, except the November school board meeting, will take place on the first Tuesday of each month. The November meeting is being pushed back a day to Wednesday, Nov. 4 since Nov. 3 is the day of the General Election.
