The community took advantage of the opportunity to discard old medications and shred unwanted documents during the Douglas Police Department’s prescription drug disposal and on site shredding that was held Saturday, May 2 at the Douglas Visitor’s Center parking lot.
“Together we have collected 48-pounds of medication for proper disposal,” Douglas’ Public Information Officer Jamilette Barrios said. “We are glad to see the public participate with our onsite shredding events. It was estimated, over two tons of paper was shredded. Shredding documents with sensitive information could help prevent identity theft. Thank you to the community for their continuous support.”
Barrios said plans are underway to have another prescription drug disposal and on site shredding event sometime in the fall.
