A Douglas woman has been forced out of her home following an early morning fire on Friday, Nov. 22.
According to Lt. Matt King, public information officer for the DFD, at 3:05 a.m. the DFD received a call of a structure fire on the 800 block of 16th St.
“We responded with eight personnel on one engine, one ladder, and one ambulance,” he said, stating that upon arrival crews found the house full of smoke and the fire in one room of the residence.
The DFD quickly extinguished the blaze and spent about an hour on scene helping get the smoke out, assuring there was no other fire, and cleaning up.
“The only person home at the time had exited the house prior to (our) arrival,” Lt. King said.
He added the cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The DFD cleared the scene shortly after 4 p.m.
