Huber Middle School hosted a Career Fair on Thursday, May 11 where several local business showed up and talked to the students about the work that they do.
In the school cafeteria where the event was held, hangs a sign that reads “college is not just a dream, it’s the plan.”
This Career Fair was designed to help the students maybe find something they might be interested in doing after high school.
Cochise College was on hand to talk to the students as was the City of Douglas, the Douglas Police Department, Douglas Fire Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Douglas Dispatch.
Event organizer Rudy Quinonez said he was pleased by what he saw not only from the participants but also the students who attended the event.
“We want these kids to start thinking now about possible career paths,” he said.
This was the second year in a row Huber has hosted this event. Quinonez plans on continuing it next year. He said he had invited several other agencies who later pulled out so he would like to have in maybe in March or April which will help attract more businesses
