A new eating establishment has opened in Douglas, in an old, yet very familiar place.

The Golden Time, located where the old Sonic once was at 1855 E. 10th Street, opened its doors in May.

Ana Rendon, her son, Carlos Valdez and daughters Briseida and Priscilla Valdez, are the owners.

“This is something we have been wanting to do for a long time,” Briseida said. “To have this opportunity is incredible.”

“Owning a restaurant is a lot of responsibility. There are a lot of steps that we had to go through that we didn’t know about,” Carlos added. “It’s been worth it. The first day we opened we had lots of customers.”

Ana says she feels very blessed she is able to do this with her children and feels it has brought everyone closer together.

“Our family has always been very supportive of each other,” Carlos said. “That’s another reason we all decided to do this. This is a family owned business. Doing this with my mom and my sisters has made us even closer.”

“I’m really happy we were able to do this,” Priscilla added. “It’s been a lot of fun; a lot of learning about what it takes to run a business. People seem to like our food.”

Ana and Priscilla are the main cooks while Carlos and his twin sister Briseida wait on the customers when not attending classes at Cochise College.

The Golden Time opens at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday; at 8 a.m. on Sunday and remains open until 9 p.m. each night.

Their golden griddle waffles and breakfast burritos and sandwiches are available any time of the day as are the lunch sandwiches, hamburgers and the other delicious items on the menu. A popular item is their 99 cent tacos as well as the $6.99 enchiladas. They also offer ice coffee, ice cream cones, a variety of milkshakes, Horchata, Raspberry Tea, soft drinks and juices. In addition, they offer French fries, curly fries, buffalo wings, onion rings and bacon cheese potato wedges and other side dishes including salads. Menudo is available every Sunday.

Items are made while you wait and are delivered fresh off the grill. Customers may either eat inside the air-conditioned restaurant or eat outside at one of the several tables that are available. Deliveries are available but only to local businesses.

Customers may order ahead by calling 364-3191. Their menu can be found on Facebook at the link below:
