Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Our Lady of La Salette Mission in Double Adobe, Arizona, for Elona Jeanne Panzer of Double Adobe.

Elona Panzer, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Elona was born October 27, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, the daughter of Everett and Jessie (McCarroll) Biggerstaff. Her family later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she finished high school.

She met John Panzer, when he was stationed at Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona. They were married May 31, 1953 in Phoenix. Later that year they moved to John's home town, Baltimore, Maryland. The family then moved to Double Adobe, Arizona in 1957.

Elona was a homemaker and worked for Southern Arizona Auto Company. She and John owned Falcon Motors in Douglas, Arizona. She worked for the Double Adobe School System, in the cafeteria department and driving a school bus. She also worked for the Cochise County Health Department and the Arizona State Department, retiring in 2001.

Elona Panzer was a member of the Homemaker Club, and a 4-H Leader. She raised, raced, and sold Race Horses. She also raised and sold Bassett Hounds. She loved animals! She was a member of Our Lady of La Salette Mission.

Elona moved to Artesia, NM to be closer to sons in October 2017.

Survivors include daughters Janine Panzer of Artesia, NM and Colleen Patchen of Double Adobe, Arizona. She is survived by her sons Danny Panzer and wife Cindy of Artesia, NM, and Mike Panzer and wife Cheri of Carlsbad, NM. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John J. Panzer, two children, John V. (Casey) Panzer and GeorgeAnn Panzer, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

The family wishes to publicly express its gratitude to those who provided excellent and loving care for Elona during her failing health and especially the staff at Good Life Senior Living in Carlsbad, NM.
