April 28, 1926- January 24, 2019
Florencio (Paul) Pablo Galvan
Pablo Galvan, servant of the Lord, died peacefully in his sleep in Hillsboro, Oregon on Thursday, Jan 24, 2019.
He was 92 years old.
Pablo and his twin brother, Paulino, were born on April 28, 1926 to Francisca and Jose Galvan in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. As a young man, Paul traveled around the United States as a migrant worker—in beets, corn, fruit, finally settling in San Antonio, Texas, where he worked in a grocery store. One evening, he attended a revival meeting and turned his life over to the Lord and felt the call to the ministry. He attended the Nazarene Seminary where he met Barbara Rinard. They married in September 1955. Paul continued his education in Pasadena before being sent to minister at the Iglesia del Nazareno in Douglas, Arizona and Agua Prieta, Sonora.
While in Pasadena, a son, Stephen, was born. During the first few years in Douglas, two daughters, Leora and Rosalind were born. The family moved from a one-bedroom parsonage to a large house right next door, which Paul and Barbara purchased and renovated. Paul served the people of Douglas and Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico for nearly sixty years—as preacher and minister, providing food and other assistance as he was able until 2017.
Pablo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paulino and José, and sisters, Marcos and Rosa. He is survived by sister, Maria, his children, Stephen (Rebecca), Leora White, and Rosalind (Larry) Rosenow, grandchildren, David, Jonathon, Becky, great grandson Kosmos, and many nephews and nieces, including his twin’s children Balbina, Lola, Anna, Samuel, Mirna, Paulina, Daniel, David, and their children.
A memorial service is planned for Thursday, Nov. 28 at 5 p.m. at the Funeraria Barragan in Agua Prieta.
