Jessie Lois Lee

Mrs. Jessie Lois Lee, 89, died March 20, 2019 in Artesia, New Mexico.

Jessie was born November 2, 1929 in Ropesville, TX., the daughter of Walter J. Boykin and Katie (Arnold) Boykin. The family later moved to Littlefield, TX. where she graduated high school. She met Willard Lee at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX., and they were married on November 9, 1950. Jessie and Willard had two children, Mitch and Cindy. They lived in Venezuela for 16 years while Willard worked for Halliburton until his retirement. Upon retirement, the family moved to Elfrida, Ariz. in 1970. Jessie worked for the United Postal Service for 30 years, serving as Postmaster in Elfrida and Pearce for 25+ years. She served as an officer for NAPUS (National Association of Postmasters of the United States) and was named NAPUS Postmaster of the Year from 1985-1986.

Jessie was an avid bridge and card player. She was a talented artist, lover of music, and a staunch Dallas Cowboys fan. She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church of Elfrida. She was also a big supporter of local high school sports in Elfrida and Artesia. Jessie moved to Artesia, NM to be with her daughter Cindy and family in 2014. After moving, she became a member of First United Methodist Church of Artesia.

Jessie was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Willard Lee; parents; four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her son, Mitch Lee and wife Sharon of Kingston, Oklahoma; daughter Cindy Panzer and husband Danny of Artesia, New Mexico; grandchildren Dustin Lee, Heath Lee and wife Lacey, Sy Panzer and wife Amanda, and Russ Panzer; great-grandchildren Kierra Liles and husband Cameron, Kolby Mathews, Jameson Panzer, Bentley Lee, Ari Lee, and Rush Lee.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to The Good Life or First United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019 at First Southern Baptist Church in Elfrida with burial to follow in McNeal Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at www.westlawnchapelmortuary.com. Services entrusted to Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematory of Willcox, Arizona.
