On August 3, 2019 Victoria Burkett of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away after a brief illness.
Vickie was born to Katherine and Gay Alexander on November 9, 1940 in Douglas, Arizona. She attended Lorreto Jr. High and graduated from Douglas High School in 1959.
In 1975, Vickie graduated from the San Angelo School of Vocational Nursing as an LPN. The family then moved back to Douglas where Vickie continued her education. In 1978, she graduated from Cochise College with her degree in nursing. She was extremely intelligent having graduated as valedictorian of her RN class. She then moved to Phoenix and enjoyed a long career as a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Vickie was known for her kind heart and her generous nature. She was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles. Her vast knowledge never ceased to amaze her children or grandchildren who always enjoyed watching Jeopardy with her at night; she seldom missed a question. They always told her she needed to be a contestant on the show. Vickie enjoyed bowling in a league along with her husband.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 55 years Archie Burkett. She is survived by her four children Gale (Linda), Tammie (Michael), Tina (Julian) and Lee; her brother John (Michelle) and sister Nancy; her six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and adopted family members.
A small service will be held at the chapel of the Southern Arizona Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista at 12:45 on September 13 with a family gathering afterwards.
