The Douglas Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season Friday and snapped a three-game losing streak in the process beating the Empire Ravens 46-44 in a non-conference game at Empire High School.
The Bulldogs trailed 32-18 at the half but then outscored the Ravens 14-2 in the third tying the game at 34 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth Douglas outscored Empire 14-10.
Francisco Lugo led Douglas in scoring with 25 points. Christian Estrella followed with seven and Christopher Acuna chipped in six.
The night before the Bulldogs were in Tucson where they fell 68-40 to the Sahuaro Cougars.
Douglas trailed 15-7 at the end of the first quarter and 40-24 at the half.
The Bulldogs were outscored 18-6 in the third as Sahuaro led 58-30.
Miguel Ballesteros led Douglas in scoring this game with 18 points. Lugo followed with 10.
Douglas began the week falling 49-41 to the Nogales Apaches Nov. 27 in the DHS gym.
The Bulldogs had a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 26-21 lead at the half.
Nogales came out in the third and outscored Douglas 12-3 in the third taking a 33-29 lead.
Ballesteros scored 11 points for the Bulldogs this game while Lugo chipped in nine and Ryan Arzac contributed five.
Douglas, 2-3 overall, has three games this week. The Bulldogs were at Desert View on Tuesday, will host CDO on Thursday and then close out the week Friday at Catalina.
