Carrizoza golf tournament benefits DHS seniors

The first place team of Jose Tapetillo, Elyssa Tapetillo, Rudy Gonzales, and Brian Johnson.

The Seventh Annual Familia Carrizoza Scholarship Golf Tournament was held Saturday, March 7, at the Douglas Golf Course.

Money raised from the tournament will go towards four Francisca and Raul Carrizoza Scholarships to graduating seniors attending Cochise Community College who are pursuing careers in aviation, education or nursing. The scholarships will be for $1,500.00 ($750.00 per year).

Familia Carrizoza would like to thank all golfers, volunteers, hole sponsors, the country club staff, cooks/servers, etc. who helped make the event possible. Special thanks to Pete and Celia Beltran for again sponsoring the $1,000.00 hole in one.

Everyone had a great time.

Organizers would also like to thank Tony Cohill, Skyline Builders (Phoenix), Juliana Norvell, DLR Group (Phoenix), Bobby Segovia, ECCO Shoes (Chandler), Nayo Salazar (Douglas), Dr. Roger Juarez (Phoenix), Morgan Mower, Waltz Construction (Tempe), Drew Keil, SPS+ Architects, Arizona Diamondbacks, Douglas Country Club and Joe and Carol Carrizoza (Corona, CA) for donating our major prizes and a big thank you to CORE Construction (Phoenix) for sponsoring the lunch.

The Eighth Annual Carrizoza Scholarship Tournament will take place March 6, 2021.
