Conference play begins tonight for the Cochise College men and women’s basketball teams, who will take on Pima College from Tucson in the ACCAC opener.
The Lady Apaches will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30. There is no admission charge to the game. Both games will take place in Cochise Stronghold on the Douglas campus.
The Apaches, 5-1, had their unbeaten streak come to an end Friday when they were defeated 90-76 by Lee College out of Baytown, Texas, Friday at a Pima College tournament.
Cochise trailed 51-32 at the half and despite outscoring Lee College 44-39 the second half, was unable to pull off the win.
Damon Wall scored 17 points to lead the Apaches in scoring, Naje Smith followed with 15, Milan Szabo chipped in 14, and Kyle Moore contributed 10.
On Thursday, Nov. 14, the Apaches defeated Howard College 76-74.
Cochise trailed at the half, 48-41 and outscored Howard 35-26 the second half, taking the two point win.
Smith led Cochise in scoring this game with a team high 22 points. Donte DuPriest and Aaron Lewis followed with 12 each, Wall had 11, and Szabo contributed 10.
The Apaches and Lady Apaches will be back at home again on Saturday, hosting Scottsdale before going on a three-game road trip that will take them to Eastern Arizona College, Central Arizona College, and Arizona Western College.
