DHS softball, tennis players receive All-Academic honors

Six members of the Douglas High School softball team and five members of the girls tennis team have been named to the Sports360AZ All-Academic team.

For softball, sophomore Alicia LaMadrid, was honored for her 3.91 weighted Grade Point Average. Senior Alondra Lugo, who has accepted a scholarship to Eastern Arizona College, had a 3.7 GPA. Senior Aylin Hernandez, 3.86 GPA, junior Isabel Tanabe, 3.89 GPA, senior Renee Urrea 3.84 GPA and junior Victoria Valenzuela, 3.78 GPA.

In girls tennis, senior Andrea Larios and junior Zulema Ayon, each had 4.0 GPA’s, junior, Paulette Vildosola had a 3.9 GPA, junior Emily Gonzales, 3.6 GPA and junior Arianna Villegas, had a 3.5 GPA

Douglas High School failed to land anyone on the baseball, track or boys tennis All-Academic teams.

Douglas High School will host a Senior Athletic Virtual Ceremony.

The event will take place Wednesday, May 6 around 6pm on the DHS athletics Facebook page.

Samantha Nieblas has been chosen to be the host, and there will be appearances by DHS Administrators and coaches.
