Douglas High School’s wrestling team honored its four departing seniors in its final home match of the season Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Douglas played host to Bisbee, Sahuarita, and Tombstone.
The Bulldogs lost to Sahuarita, 57-6, fell, 48-18, to Tombstone, and closed out the match with a 30-29 loss to Bisbee.
Prior to the match with Bisbee, Douglas’ wrestling coach Richard Ross honored seniors Charlynn Guerra Martinez, Maria Gamino Perez, Luis Vega and Sergio Zuniga.
Albert Ambriz, wrestling at 106-pounds, was 2-1 on the day, posting wins over Bisbee and Tombstone after dropping a, 12-6 decision to Sahuarita.
Pedro De La Cruz was 1-2 at 113-pounds, his lone win coming by forfeit over Bisbee.
Hector Martinez was 1-2 at 126, his lone win coming by pin against Tombstone.
Damian Aguilar, wrestling at 132-pounds, was 1-2 with his lone win coming by forfeit against Bisbee. Humberto Lopez went 2-1 at 138, posting wins over Bisbee and Sahuarita.
Benjamin Sandoval, was 2-0 at 160, picking up wins via forfeit against Bisbee and Tombstone.
Leonardo Romero was 0-3 in his 182-pound weight division.
Douglas did not have wrestlers in the 120, 145, 152, 170, 195, 220, and 285 weight classes.
Next up for the DHS wrestlers will be the Division III, Section I, boys wrestling tournament, Feb. 8 at Amphitheater High School in Tucson.
