Douglas Dawgs win Jacobs Classic

The Douglas Dawgs won their second tournament at the Jacobs Classic in Tucson, Feb. 15-16. The Douglas Dawgs U11 traveling soccer team won their second tournament of the year, winning the 2020 Jacobs Classic in Tucson, Feb. 15-16.

Douglas went 4-0 in the tournament and outscored their opponents 28-2.

The Dawgs beat RSL Cesar 7-1 in the opening game of the tournament. Gus Hurtado Jr. scored three goals this match while Jan Carlo Terrazas had two, and Jordan Romero and Dylan Valenzuela each had one.

In the second game, Douglas defeated CDO ‘09B Blue 12-1 as Hurtado scored three goals, Diego Duarte, Terrazas, and Valenzuela each had two, and Gonzalo Ruiz, Adrian Campas both kicked in one.

The third game turned out to be the semifinals against RSL Cardenas White. The Dawgs won that match 7-0 as Romero scored four goals, Hurtado two and Terrazas one.

In the championship match, the Douglas Dawgs faced off against another local team, the Douglas Daredevils, who were also undefeated at this point of the tournament.

Douglas won the match 1-0 on a penalty kick by Hurtado, to win the match, and the championship.
