The Douglas Elks Lodge #955 will host its annual Hoop Shoot Thursday, Jan. 2 in the Douglas High School gym.
The contest is open to all boys and girls, ages 8-13. There is no charge to participate.
According to Douglas’ Hoop Shoot director Richard Ross, all our children in our community and surrounding area are invited to participate in the Annual Hoop Shoot.
“The Hoop Shoot provides a character-building, competitive experience for all kids,” Ross said. “Through each of the levels of competition, kids support one another while learning from their unique strengths. Contestants regard meeting new friends as one of the top benefits of participating in the Hoop Shoot.”
Registration starts at 8 a.m. with the event itself, beginning at 9 a.m.
Winners from each age group will go to the Tucson Girls and Boys Club January 4 to compete at the next level. If successful, they will have a chance to proceed on to Las Vegas for the regional play.
