The Cochise College Lady Apaches kicked off conference play last week with a pair of wins keeping them unbeaten.

Cochise hosted Pima Community College on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in Cochise Stronghold and came away with a 76-71 win.

The Lady Apaches led by 10 at halftime and increased that lead to 15 in the second half before Pima rallied, taking a 67-62 lead with four minutes remaining in the game.

Tied at 68-68 with just under a minute remaining, Cochise outscored Pima 8-3, with six of the points coming from the free-throw line, coming away with a five-point win.

Raena Suggs led the Lady Apaches in scoring with 26 points. Vinisha Sherrod and Kayla Harris followed with 11 each. Sharmayne Finley contributed 10.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Lady Apaches were again at home and thumped Scottsdale Community College 83-32.

Cochise led 21-5 at the end of the first quarter, and 50-14 at the half.

Christina Thames led the Lady Apaches in scoring with 15 points, Starr Walker had 12, Suggs contributed 11m and Sherrod and Janessa Johnson each chipped in 10.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, Cochise, 7-0 on the season, 2-0 in conference, has just one game this week taking on Central Arizona College, Tuesday in a 5:30 p.m. game that will be played in Coolidge.
