The Douglas Lady Bulldogs were 2-0 winners over the Scottsdale Saguaro Sabercats in a 4A conference play-in game Thursday at Armando de Lucas Stadium.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs advance on in the state tournament and will now play Saturday against a top eight team on the road. Thursday night’s eight winners will be reseeded and then matched up against a top eight team who had a bye. The pairings are expected to be announced around noon Friday. The Bulldogs will also find out at that time who they will host Saturday.

In Thursday's play-in match, Venecia Torres scored Douglas’ first goal three and a half minutes into the match giving the Lady Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

With just over seven minutes remaining in the first half, Jenally Barco scored giving Douglas a 2-0 lead at the half.

Douglas had some missed scoring opportunities in the second half keeping the match close.

The Lady Bulldogs outshot Scottsdale 10-2 Thursday. Douglas’ goalie Andrea Amaya had two saves.
